In some European countries (eg France, Italy, Poland, Croatia), white chrysanthemums are symbolic of death and are only used for funerals or on graves. Also in China, Japan and Korea, white chrysanthemums are symbolic of lamentation and sorrow. In some other countries the chrysanthemum symbolizes honesty. Cultural pridavanana flower symbolism in the U.S. is positive. Festival of the Chrysanthemum is September 9th.
